'Learn To Fly' Recording

So the new Band of One EP is nearly finished. After posting about recording our stair case to create a beat for a song I thought I'd give an update about some more recording techniques I've used.

For the second track on the EP, 'Learn To Fly', I wanted to create a natural, round-the-campfire-type sound (although I added 'cello parts, so a pretty posh campfire)...so I experimented with my trusty ol' Martin acoustic and settled on a continuous 'back-thump' beat:

I added some hand claps to this. Fast forward a couple of instruments, I recorded a percussive sounding bass in order to offset the rhythm. The result was a laid back rhythm that gave a rhythmic back bone to the song:
